Berrick Salome Parish Council - Clerk

The Parish Council is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person to take on the role as Clerk to the Council.

You will be mainly working from home and the Council will provide you with a laptop for Council business. You will also be required to attend Council meetings and the Annual Parish Meeting. General Council meetings take place on the second Thursday of every other month from January. Occasionally Extraordinary meetings are necessary where it is necessary to discuss business at short notice. Meetings are held in the Berrick and Roke Village Hall.

This is a part-time role with an average of 6 hours per week including attendance at meetings, however workload is variable.

Your salary will depend on experience. It is within the NJC salary scale range SCP7 - SCP12 (£13.26 - £14.36 per hour).

Main duties include:

  • acting as advisor to the Chair and council, keeping track of regulations and changes to governance
  • creating agendas alongside the Chair
  • minute taking, and managing the correspondence and filing.

The qualities we are looking for are:

  • A high standard of oral and written communication skills, be capable of working independently, prioritising work and have the ability and flexibility to deal with a range of issues.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office software (particularly Excel, One Drive, Outlook and Word).
  • Experience as a Parish Clerk would be helpful but training will be given to someone who is keen to take on this role.

Cuddesdon and Denton Parish Council - Clerk and RFO

CUDDESDON AND DENTON PARISH COUNCIL

VACANCY FOR PARISH CLERK

The Parish Council is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic person to take on the post of Clerk to the Council and Responsible Financial Officer.

The post is part time, averaging five hours per week, working mainly from home. The hours of work are flexible except for attendance at meetings.

The salary is within the NJC salary scale range SCP13 - SCP23 (£13.97 - £16.67 per hour). Actual salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.

The Clerk should be available to attend Council meetings which are normally held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm.

The successful applicant must be IT literate. Computer equipment will be supplied.

The Clerk stores Council equipment and files securely at their home address.

Duties will include acting as advisor to the council, minute taking, and managing the correspondence and filing. The Clerk is also responsible for maintenance of the village website.

The role of Responsible Financial Officer includes management of the Council’s financial affairs, including the accounts, payments and receipts, and managing the financial records.

The Parish Council would prefer the successful applicant to take on the roles of both Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer.

Training is available where appropriate.

The starting date will be agreed between the successful candidate and the Council.

Appointment of a Clerk to the Parish Council

Part time – 13.3 hours per month

£14.60 to 15.84 per hour, dependent on qualifications and experience, plus an allowance for home working as set by HMRC.

The Parish Council is seeking to appoint a Clerk to the Parish Council who will ensure that all statutory provisions relating to the Council are observed.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an excellent communicator
  • Be self-motivated and have a flexible attitude
  • Be well-organised, able to deal with a wide range of situations and demands, and able to meet strict deadlines
  • Have experience of administering meetings, including preparing agendas and minutes
  • Have experience of preparing and monitoring a budget
  • Have good office IT skills including MS Word and Excel
  • Preferably have knowledge of the workings of Local Government or a public body

The post requires the clerk to work from home and to attend evening meetings and occasional other meetings/events.

If not already qualified (CILCA) the candidate will be expected to undertake training to qualify as a ‘Proper Officer’. This training is provided by the Society of Council Clerks (SLCC) and the Parish Council will pay for the courses and the membership.

Eynsham Parish Council is looking to appoint a new Responsible Finance Officer (RFO) to support the council in its financial management and delivery of services and improvements for the community of Eynsham.
